If you want to take anything buy a landrover (older model) if you want the next best thing get a Suzuki (older model)
Jeeps are by far the worst 4x4
and Hummer are to big and useless
and pickup trucks are big and also usless but a Hummer is worse

Zooks are GREAT!!

I have both a 1987 Samurai set up for trails and a slight suspension upgrades Dodge Dakota 4x4 pick-up.
The Samurai has excellent entry and exit angles for the trails. And is so light it can go just about anywhere you can bounce a tire on too.
Here in the Great White North, the Dakota works great as my daily driver and to flat tow the Samurai with it. Being the full-box version, It has a terrible exit angle, and the torsion bar independent front drive axle has some ground clearance issues to use it on serious off road trails.
