Rainy season "fun in the mud"
During December/January 2007 my colleagues and I at I Dream Africa Safaris, had enough of providing exciting 4x4 tours for our clients and needed some dirt time for us selves. Our tour was split in two parts, the first being Dammaraland and Kaokoland in the north west of our country, being Namibia (for those who are not familiar with the country, it borders South Africa to the south) and the second leg being the Okavango Delta in Botswana.
This time of year is in the beginning of the rainy season and we figured, where better to get some dirt than in the middle of a natural swamp during rainy season. Well I can go on about our adventure, but the photo attached is the proof of navigating a 120km stretch of national dirt trunk road at an average speed of 15km/hour in a natural heaven with a constant stream of 2metre deep water.
The vehicles we trust in is Toyota 4,5 EFI Landcruiser pickups and station wagons, kitted out with 15 -17 inch BF Goodrich Mud-Terrain Tires, free-flowed and banana branched, some diesels are chipped and all vehicles are lifted with OME suspensions and bulbar conversions, long range fuel tanks and an array of necessities for our tours.
Enjoy
