Looking at pictures of this 1996 Ford Bronco and there can be no doubt in your mind that this is not your ordinary grocery fetcher.
I took a trip to Keflavik to visit Oscar and take a look at his huge truck.
Oscar Hardarson has owned this Full Size Bronco for more than six years and in that time has completely rebuilt it to take on the most demanding off-roading trips. To those that see the truck it is no big surprise that it has been named the Full Size of the Year 2004 by the Full Size Bronco web site.
Listening to the engine gives you the true feeling for the enormous power that is installed. Running smooth at idle but roaring like a lion when given big doses of gas!
This is the 5,8 supercharged roller cam engine with around 400 horses MSD 6.btm ignition K&N filter Ford Racing stainless steel headers dual 2.5 inch exhaust and dual cherrybomb mufflers.
Oscar has big plans for this engine including a 427 stroker and lot of another mods) new: Accel coil wires plugs cap and rotor (small things can make a huge difference got back 25-30 hp)
E4OD w/b&m shiftplus B&W 1356 t-case Dana-60 front 10.25 Ford rear axle 5.38 gears (gears from randys, good service) with detroit lockers.
Icelandic cut out flares tires are Super Svamper Boggers 44x19.5x15 and 15x18 inches custom chrome spoke rims. Traction bars are custom made on the rear axle with new 1410 Spicer rear drive shaft and yoke.
To appreciate the SIZE of this truck just take an ordinary unmodified bronco and look at them side by side! The roof of the original is about the same height as the hood of Oscar's truck.
During summer Oscar uses his small tires! But 38" look kind of tiny when compared to the huge buggers used in the winter.
Oscar is not afraid to use the truck in real tough off-roading trips Icelandic style with the snow.
The Jeep Wrangler on 33" tires is stuck in deep snow. But the big wheeled Bronco is barely noticing any resistance at all.

Extreme 4x4 are highly modified and custom built 4x4s. Some of them may look like other 4x4s but as you look closer you see interesting solutions. Others are obviously extreme 4x4s!
